Although it looks as if there are many styles of running, we all move in the same way. It may feel that we push
ourselves forward using muscular effort when we run, but there is evidence that this is not what actually happens. Human
movement, according to Leonardo da Vinci's definition, begins with the destruction of balance. When we run we reach
a balance point - our body weight is directly above our foot - and as we pass this balance point we 'unbalance'
and therefore move! Pose Method® is a structured approach to learning how to move more efficiently by landing as close to this balance point
as we can, in a posture that allows us to move past it with minimal braking and vertical movement. In so doing, we reduce
impact and don't have to work so hard.
Taking an appreciation of human movement as its starting point, it
teaches us to become aware of how we move as well as showing us how to minimise actions that make our movement less efficient.
The method relies on changing perceptions and reducing deviations from a measurable standard which is referred to
as 'The Pose'.

Coaching Options
| | Session | Venue | Group | Cost* | INTRODUCTION TO EFFICIENT RUNNING: A brief overview of the core concepts and principles of biomechanical movement and its application to running | Anywhere | Small group | Free | Individual and Group Coaching | 1 DAY
WORKSHOP: The format of the Workshop is structured in two
sections: 1) A theoretical section which will include a presentation and discussion about Pose Method®, the concepts
of movement and how they apply to running, and a video analysis of current running form paying particular attention to how
students compare against the measurable standard used in Pose Method®; 2) The practical section in which students will be introduced to the practical application of the theory and
concepts, learn how to do the core perceptual and postural alignment exercises, and see how they relate to what we actually
do when we are running, and plenty of opportunities to practise. There will be more video analysis and discussion.
The importance of specific functional strength for running will also be discussed, and a range of beneficial strength
and flexibility exercises will be introduced. Expect to be tired after this! | Anywhere where I can plug in a laptop and set up
my equipment, and there is a reasonably sized space to run around and practise the various exercises | 1-2 people 3-4 people
| £100p/p £90p/p
| FASTER FEET 1: A slimmed-down version of the Full Day Workshop.
A full on Core coaching session covering all the main concepts of biomechanically efficient running. Includes video analysis
of current running form, the introduction of the perceptual and adaptive exercises to iron out any issues that may be found,
plenty of practical application. This is an involved and lengthy session, and is pretty demanding. | Anywhere where I can plug in a laptop and set up my equipment. My house is fine! | 1-2 people 3-4 people
| £70p/p £65p/p
| FASTER FEET 2:
An intensive follow-up to FASTER FEET 1, which includes further video analysis of running form and will target any areas
that need work. This is a very practical session that involves plenty of specifically targeted work and video analysis.
Prepare to be worked hard! | Anywhere with plenty of space to run around and do targeted exercises. | 1-2 people 3-4 people
| £50p/p £45p/p
| | One-to-One - hourly rate | | | £25 | | Anyone who has participated in a Workshop, individual or group coaching session will have access to
unlimited (within reason) support and input through a variety of media. This is offered as an integral part of a coaching
package and is free of charge.
